what do we believe in?
Every society exists within layers of moral codes. There are things that are appreciated, there are things that are accepted and then there are things that are outright looked down upon. But repression can have dangerous consequences. Most often, they manifest as triggers — sparking emotional reactions that we haven’t fully dealt with in our collective consciousness. These reactions bubble up to the surface when triggered. And out in the open, this trauma forms the root of most violence and sex crimes.
The dictionary defines trauma as a 'deeply distressing event.' But what distresses someone could be as simple as being made to dress a certain way to be accepted, or making them feel like an outsider for their sexual choices and kinks. This Jungian Shadow isn't a personal darkness either. We project it on to the various dead constructs around us, like culture and religion, and continue to look away from what the majority has deemed socially unacceptable. And continue to relinquish our responsibilities to it.
We believe a healthy society is one that strives towards acceptance and acknowledgement of this shadow. And with that comes clarity and authenticity.
